Join us for Veterans Day on June 27

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Zoetermeer will honor its veterans during the annual Veterans’ Day celebration on the Markt. The day will focus on honor, recognition, and fellowship. You are warmly invited to join the program on the Markt.

Starting at 5:00 p.m., there will be an Information and Experience Fair. There will be performances, street theater, food trucks, and a bar. At 6:00 p.m., the official opening will take place, featuring a surprise performance and the raising of the veterans’ flag by Mayor Bezuijen and Junior Mayor Sarah van den Berg.

A highlight of the evening is the parade of historic and modern military vehicles. The vehicles will drive through the city and arrive at the Markt around 7:30 p.m. Afterward, visitors can view the vehicles up close during the static display. The parade route is listed at the bottom of this page.

Veterans' Day in Zoetermeer will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Markt. Admission is free.

Parade route

  • Start at Buytenparklaan, pass Intratuin via Voorweg, and follow the road to the roundabout.
  • Turn left onto Amerikaweg, follow the road, go straight through the roundabout until you reach the traffic lights.
  • Turn left at Vorstiusrode and follow the road to the T-intersection.
  • Turn left onto Muzieklaan and follow the winding road all the way to the roundabout.
  • Turn right onto Zwaardslootseweg and follow the road until you reach the traffic lights.
  • Turn left onto Filmlaan, which becomes Bert Haanstrastrook, and follow the winding road until you reach the Y-intersection.
  • Turn right onto Hitchcockstrook and immediately left onto Stan Laurelstrook, passing the De Leyens shopping center; the road turns into a bike path on the Sartrezijde side—follow it until you reach the T-junction.
  • Turn right onto Sartrezijde and follow the winding road to the T-intersection near the hospital.
  • Turn left onto Brechtzijde and follow the road to the roundabout.
  • Turn right onto Toneellaan and follow the road until you reach the traffic lights.
  • Turn left onto Aziëweg and follow the road until you reach the traffic lights.
  • Turn right onto Wallendreef (bridge over the water), and follow the road to the T-intersection.
  • Turn right onto Velddreef, follow the road until the third right (the first and second turns lead to residential areas).
  • Turn right onto Vogeldreef; after the RandstadRail bridge, the road becomes Vijverdreef, and immediately after the curve, turn left and continue to the T-intersection.
  • Turn right onto Vaartdreef, follow the road until you reach the T-intersection with a curve (drive past the side road to the right with the sign for Rotterdam!).
  • Turn right onto Slootdreef and follow the road to the T-intersection at the Seghwaert shopping center.
  • Turn right onto Parkdreef and follow the road until you reach the traffic lights.
  • Turn right onto Gaardedreef, follow the road, follow the curve to the left, and continue onto Van Aalstlaan (past the AVIA gas station) until you reach the roundabout.
  • Turn right onto Van Aalstlaan and continue straight ahead until you reach the roundabout.
  • Turn right onto Van Diestlaan and follow the road to the mini-roundabout.
  • Turn left onto Schoolstraat, which becomes Piet Heinstraat; follow the road until you reach the T-intersection.
  • Turn right onto Karel Doormanstraat, which becomes Oranjelaan, and after the intersection, it becomes Willem de Zwijgerlaan.
  • Go straight through the roundabout; the road becomes Van Leeuwenhoeklaan, follow the road until you reach the roundabout.
  • Turn right onto J.L. van Rijweg, follow the road until the first right, just past the traffic lights.
  • Turn right Engelandlaan, follow the road past the Stadhuis overpass.
  • Turn right toward the Markt; end of the parade through Zoetermeer.
