From January 1, 2024, new rates will apply for charging electric cars at public charging stations in the municipality of Zoetermeer. The rate will change from €0.394 per kWh (incl. VAT) to €0.58 per kWh (incl. VAT).

Why did the rate go up?

The new tariff is a direct result of previous price increases throughout the energy market. The rate adjustment follows from the agreements agreed upon when the contract entered into force.

In many municipalities outside our region, the price increase has already taken place in early 2023. We do not apply this price increase until 2024. Due to the CBS indexation, which is agreed in the contract that the municipality of Zoetermeer has, our kWh price is about one year behind the current developments. This is partly why the charging rate in Zoetermeer and the surrounding area was relatively very favorable in 2023 and falls higher in 2024.
