Orange The World

Last Monday (November 25) the international campaign Orange The World was launched! In the presence of Alderman Frinking, the CKC was lit up orange.

Orange The World calls attention to ending violence against women and girls worldwide. During this period (November 25 to December 10), buildings or other objects in more than 100 countries are highlighted in orange. There is increasing attention for this campaign in the Netherlands. There are municipalities, provinces, companies, social organizations, sports clubs and other organizations that organize activities during this period.

Special action in Zoetermeer

The working group Women Against Violence (part of the community Women of Zoetermeer) have come up with a special action to break the taboo around domestic violence. Stories of domestic violence often remain unsaid, but that has to change. By sharing stories (anonymously), they make the violence visible and break the silence. Learn more about this action at www.zoetermeer.nl/orangetheworld.

Karin Diepeveen of the Women Against Violence working group spoke later in the evening in city council meeting where many aldermen and council members showed their solidarity by wearing something orange.
