Update 9:54 a.m.

Fire department busy ventilating

Firefighters are currently ventilating the floors so residents can return to their homes. More information to follow.

9:36 a.m.

The occupant of the fire address was removed from the residence by nursing staff. The third floor of the complex was completely evacuated. Because there was slight smoke development on the fourth through seventh floors, those floors were also evacuated. More units were needed at the scene for this and for that reason the situation was scaled up. GRIP 1 was declared, because this involved less self-reliant people who had to be evacuated. The residents are being received at a nearby location. More information will follow.
