In the Netherlands, anyone may organize a demonstration or protest. This is a fundamental right. Do you want to demonstrate in a public place in Zoetermeer? If so, you must notify the mayor in advance. This way, an assessment can be made in time as to whether measures are necessary. For example, for traffic and safety.

Please provide the following information when reporting:

When can the mayor prohibit a demonstration?

  • If you report the demonstration late to the mayor (you must do this at least 4 days in advance).
  • If you do not provide the mayor with correct or incomplete information in a timely manner.
  • In the interest of traffic and/or traffic safety.
