Elevator Mandela bridge works again
The elevator at the Nelson Mandela Bridge is working again. In late September 2024, we were faced with the fact that one of the elevators was broken and even a second elevator had to be taken out of service. It is not often that 2 elevators are broken at the same time. The small elevator will be put back into service on Friday, October 18. Should it happen again that 2 elevators are broken we will communicate about it on this page(zoetermeer.nl/mandelabrug).
Patience with boarding
We urge everyone to be patient with boarding. The Mandela Bridge elevators have very sensitive sensors. When they are bumped into, or someone tries to quickly enter the elevator, a malfunction can already occur. Sometimes it helps to be patient, but often the technology is forced, causing the elevator to fail.

Work winter 2022/2023
After being closed for 55 days, the Nelson Mandela Bridge has been open again for pedestrians and cyclists since January 26, 2023. NS station Zoetermeer and RandstadRail stop Driemanspolder are also back in use. The bridge was closed due to work to make it structurally safe. An important moment was the replacement of the bridge section above the A12 freeway on December 29, 2022.
