Youth
Zoetermeer has enforcers who focus specifically on the city's youth. We call these youth boas. By making and maintaining contact with (groups of) youth, they try to prevent problems. If necessary, they intervene. They regularly visit hangouts, meeting points and/or places where nuisance occurs. The youth officers work together with other organizations in the city, such as the police and youth and family workers.
Youth officers know what is going on among youth. This allows them to involve other organizations if necessary, for example in the field of care. Together with these organizations, a plan of action is then made.
The municipality has set up places in Zoetermeer where young people can come together. So-called youth meeting places (JOPs). These spots often have a steel house, containers or benches with a roof.
