Lecture on September 16 on biodiversity in Zoetermeer by city ecologist André van Kleinwee

Why is greenery so important in the city? And how can we work together to increase biodiversity in Zoetermeer? City ecologist André van Kleinwee will take you into his world of ecological green management on Tuesday, September 16, at 1:30 p.m. He will share his vision, plans and inspiring practical examples - from flower-filled roadsides to animal-friendly gardens. Whether you are a resident, garden enthusiast, nature lover or just curious: this lecture will offer everyone valuable insights and practical tips.

Every neighborhood in Zoetermeer has its own green story - come listen and find out how you can contribute to a livable, healthy and biodiverse city. Green in the city creates a healthier and more pleasant living environment. It helps combat heat stress, captures rainwater, improves air quality and provides space for plants and animals. Moreover, a green environment contributes to people's well-being: it provides tranquility and makes people happier.

André is an urban ecologist and deals with ecological management. He looks at how, for example, roadsides and ditch banks can be managed in a nature-friendly way so that they are attractive to plants and animals. For construction projects in the city, he performs an ecological test to investigate whether protected species are present.
