Compulsory Mental Health Care Act (Wvggz).

The Wvggz allows mandatory mental health care to be imposed. This may be necessary when a person's serious mental illness leads to dangerous behavior for himself or those around him. Compulsory care can mean admission, but it can also be care at home.

Mandatory care is given only when it is really necessary. The need is always properly investigated. But more importantly, compulsory care is prevented by focusing on prevention. And by examining with the person involved whether voluntary care is still an option, so that the person involved remains in control of his/her care.

At Hotline Bezorgd , as of Jan. 1, 2020, you can also file reports under the Mandatory Mental Health Care Act. For more information about this law, see www.dwangindezorg.nl/wvggz.
