The Hague Environmental Service (ODH)

What can you, as a resident, contact the Environmental Service for?

  • Environmental complaints and nuisance: You can call the Environmental Complaints Line(0888 - 333 555) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with (urgent) complaints about companies in the Province of South Holland. For example, environmental complaints are about noise, odor, soil or air pollution. The ODH then checks whether the company complies with the environmental regulations. You can also report your complaint via ODH's online nuisance report form. In addition, you can also report through the municipal Notification or Complaint form.
  • Announcements: Official announcements from the municipality of Zoetermeer can be found in the Municipal Gazette on overheid.nl or via the OmgevingsAlert app.

As an entrepreneur of a company in the Haaglanden region, you will certainly have to deal with the environmental service. Many entrepreneurs are required to make a report or apply for an environmental permit. Information about how this works exactly can be found on the website of the Environmental Service .

  • Supervision: the Environmental Service checks whether your company complies with the rules. How does this work?
    • Each company, depending on the sector and the possible effects on the environment and surroundings, receives periodic visits from an ODH supervisor. If violations are found during an environmental inspection, enforcement action can be taken.
  • Reporting incidents and events: entrepreneurs are obliged to report any unforeseen incident or event with possible consequences for the environment to the environmental service.
  • Announcements: Official announcements from the municipality of Zoetermeer can be found in the Municipal Gazette on overheid.nl or via the OmgevingsAlert app.
