What can you as a resident turn to the Environment Service for?

  • Environmental complaints and nuisance: You can call the Environmental Complaints Line(0888 - 333 555) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with (urgent) complaints about companies in the Province of South Holland. For example, environmental complaints are about noise, odor, soil or air pollution. The ODH then checks whether the company complies with the environmental regulations. You can also report your complaint via ODH's online nuisance report form. In addition, you can also report through the municipal Notification or Complaint form.
  • Notices: Official notices of the municipality of Zoetermeer can be found in the Municipal Gazette on overheid.nl or via the OmgevingsAlert app.

As an entrepreneur of a business in the Haaglanden region, you will certainly have to deal with the environmental service. Many entrepreneurs are required to file a notification or apply for an environmental permit. Information on exactly how to do this can be found on the site of the Environment Service.

  • Supervision: the Omgevingsdienst checks whether your company complies with the rules, how does this work?
    • Each company, depending on the industry and the possible effects on the environment and surroundings, receives periodic visits from an ODH supervisor. If violations are found during an environmental inspection, enforcement action can be taken.
  • Reporting occurrences and incidents: business owners are required to report any unforeseen occurrence or incident with potential environmental impact to the environmental department.
  • Notices: Official notices of the municipality of Zoetermeer can be found in the Municipal Gazette on overheid.nl or via the OmgevingsAlert app.
