New step for 173 social housing units at Roggeakker and Van Aalst Avenue

Municipality of Zoetermeer and housing corporation Vidomes have signed 2 important agreements for the development of approximately 173 new social rental homes at 2 locations in the city: the Roggeakker and Van Aalstlaan. The signings are the starting point of a next phase in the development of both projects.

Roggeakker: new homes for different target groups

At the location on the Roggeakker, Vidomes is working on the construction of 123 social rental homes. There will be a varied range of 2- and 3-room homes for starters, young people and the elderly, among others. The homes will be made suitable for all phases of life, so that residents can continue to live there for a long time, even if their housing needs change.

Together with the municipality, the construction plan has been worked on in the past period, in which the design of the public space is part of the plan. With the signing of the agreement for Roggeakker, the municipality and Vidomes are now laying down agreements on the collaboration, the planning, various land matters and the future design of the area. Vidomes can now continue with the elaboration of the project.

Van Aalstlaan: senior housing

Also on the Van Aalstlaan, work is being done on the development of a new residential environment. At this location, homes for seniors, with and without light care needs, are provided. Partly due to the input that was collected during an earlier participation process, approximately 50 social rental homes have been added to the plan. These homes are being developed by Vidomes, which signed the purchase and realization agreement for this together with the municipality on May 23.

The social housing of Vidomes is part of the plan 'Karakter'. Area developer AM will build approximately 110 homes and combines independent living with the possibility of care, support and meeting. A special part of the project is the repurposing of the existing Monuta building. This will be retained and will be given a new function under the name Cornelis. Among other things, a craft workshop will be built here. Welfare organization Piëzo, part of InZet, wants to organize activities for residents and neighbors here.

A home for everyone

With these 2 projects, the municipality of Zoetermeer and Vidomes are taking a concrete step in the development of the housing supply in the city. The combination of different housing types and target groups, with attention to care and welfare, provides a valuable addition to Zoetermeer. "With these signatures, new homes will be added for starters, young people and seniors. These are important projects that contribute to a city where there is a suitable home for everyone," according to alderman Weerwag (Housing).

Jacco Maan, director of Vidomes, states: "With these plans for 2 beautiful new construction projects in Zoetermeer, we can offer tenants and home seekers new opportunities. In order to continue to do this sufficiently in the future, the rent freeze must be taken off the table or fully compensated. We would like to continue to work with the municipality to build an even more beautiful Zoetermeer."
