Development of city's Entree district now really gets underway

The environmental program for the new Entree urban district is final. Both city council and college have approved the ground rules that give developers room to build a lively and green urban district. Entree is a new district with approximately 7,000 homes that Zoetermeer can be proud of.

Now that the framework for building in Entree has been established, the time has come for the various owners in Entree to come up with their building plans. This is expected to happen first in 2026 for one of the vacant lots at Boerhaavelaan and for the building to be demolished at Bredewater 26. These plans will then be discussed with the residents of the adjacent neighborhoods in Driemanspolder and Meerzicht.

Alderman Jan Iedema is pleased that the realization of Entree is another step closer: "Everyone wonders why it is taking so long to build in Entree. Fortunately, the construction of Terra Nova is underway, and there will be plenty of construction activity there after the summer vacation. For the other locations in Entree, I am confident that the owners will now come up with their building plans soon. I also get that confidence from the cooperation agreement we recently signed with them."

Game Rules

The ground rules are laid down in the documents that accompany the environment program, such as the development vision and the image quality plan. They contain the principles for the buildings, program, mobility, public space and sustainability. The municipality has been working on the plans for Entrance for a long time. In 2022 there were many reactions (views) to the draft zoning plan. The plans were then adjusted and incorporated into the environmental program, among other things. Residents were able to respond to these in the spring of 2025.

Investments

Along with the environment program, the revised business case for Entree was also adopted. This "housekeeping book" is the financial translation of the plans and includes the total costs and revenues. The municipality itself is investing 54 million euros in Entree, largely intended for the layout of the new city street, Afrikaweg, and an attractive public space. It is estimated that market parties will invest at least 2 billion euros.
