SnowWorld plans take a step further

SnowWorld Zoetermeer has plans to modernize and expand their activities. The board of mayor and aldermen van Zoetermeer agreed on 27 May to complete the feasibility phase of SnowWorld's plans. At the same time, the associated Plan Development Framework (PUK) will be submitted to the municipal council. This is expected to happen before the summer holidays.

Plans of SnowWorld

The Plan Development Framework (PUK) sets out the frameworks, ambitions and preconditions for the further development of SnowWorld's plans. These include the arrival of an extension of Adventure Valley with a cable car (zip-line), a hotel, children's playground, regulation of parking space and renovation of the current building. With this extension, they want to offer visitors an attractive programme all year round. As soon as the council agrees to the PUK, the further elaboration of the plans will start. In this phase, the plans will be worked out in more detail, the permit procedures will be prepared and various in-depth studies will be carried out.

In conversation with local residents and follow-up

In 2023, SnowWorld organised 3 meetings with local residents and stakeholders under the direction of the municipality. These discussions produced positive feedback but also showed that local residents have concerns, for example about noise, parking and the impact of the plans on the Buytenpark. These points of attention will be included in the further elaboration of the plan and SnowWorld will then discuss them again with local residents and stakeholders.

Alderman Ronald Weerwag (Spatial Planning): "With the Plan Development Framework, we are completing an important step in the feasibility phase. We are positive about SnowWorld's plans and at the same time remain focused on the interests of local residents and the quality of the environment."
