Exhibition 'WE... break the circle of violence' on display at Cadenza Square in the Zoetermeer city center.

On September 3, Alderman Bouke Velzen together with Jakob (one of those portrayed) opened the exhibition 'WE.... break the circle of violence'. This exhibition can be seen until September 23 at the Cadenza Square in the Stadshart.

With this exhibition, the community is calling attention to victims of domestic and sexual violence and child abuse. The exhibition tells 29 personal stories of people who, with the help of others, have managed to break the cycle of violence. By sharing stories and portraying people who have made a difference, the municipality wants to show that change is possible and that everyone can play a role in it.

The municipality believes it is important to make domestic violence discussable and break the transmission of violence from generation to generation. Therefore, the municipality invites its residents to go to the exhibition, listen to each other and stay in conversation with each other.

Alderman Bouke Velzen: "Violence doesn't belong anywhere. Also not in Zoetermeer. Lisa's death has hit us all hard. It makes painfully clear how important it is to keep working on safety. At home, on the streets and in society."

Jacob: "I think it's very important to tell men that they can also be victims and so they should also be able to express their grief. Men are allowed or even, should be able to express their feelings."
