If you offer a place to sleep in your hotel, bed & breakfast, recreational home or campground, you pay tourist tax. You can pass this amount on to your guests, travel agent or tour operator.

You do not pay tourist tax for your guests if your guests live in the same municipality where your business is located.

Why do you pay tourist tax?

Because tourists stay in the municipality, the municipality incurs more costs. For example, to clean streets and maintain roads. The municipality pays these costs, for example, from the income from the tourist tax.

What you need to know

  • Tourist tax is an annual tax imposed quarterly.
  • You are required to file a tax return. You will receive a quarterly invitation to do so.
  • On the tax return form, enter the type of stay and stay turnover of your business.
  • You can attach a calculation stay turnover and an auditor's report.
  • This data is used in determining the amount of the tourist tax.

Didn't receive an invitation to declare?

Have you not yet received a tax return invitation? Then you can send an e-mail to belastingen@zoetermeer.nl. We will then send you a tax return form.
