Chapeau pin award Suzanne Verboon
An inspiring organizer, a passionate connector and a warm driving force behind neighborhood initiatives in Seghwaert - that is Suzanne Verboon. During the festive celebration of the one-year anniversary of the jeu-de-boules court next to the Hof van Seghwaert, neighborhood alderman Wim Blansjaar presented Suzanne Verboon with a Chapeau Medal on behalf of the Zoetermeer city council on July 13.
Suzanne Verboon has been actively involved in Stichting Hof van Seghwaert since its inception 11 years ago. First as board member and the last three years as chairman, but above all as indispensable center of this green meeting place in the neighborhood. As formal activities coordinator and informal contact person she shares her joys and sorrows with visitors and volunteers, and is present almost daily to make plans and connect residents.
Whether it is the construction of the jeu-de-boules court, the organization of Neighborhood Day or setting up neighborhood-wide collaborations with cultural institutions and other neighborhood gardens: Suzanne is the driving force. A good example of this are the monthly film evenings in the Entrance, an initiative that originated with her and has since won a permanent place in the neighborhood agenda.
Suzanne is also wholeheartedly committed to sustainability. As Klimaatburgemeester van Zoetermeer, she is a booster of activities that make residents aware of their impact on the environment, such as Zero-Waste walks, clothing swaps and inspiring lectures in the Stadhuis-Forum.
With her commitment, enthusiasm and connecting ability, Suzanne Verboon is an example for many. The City Council thanks her with the Chapeau Pin for her years of commitment and her valuable contribution to the livability of Seghwaert and Zoetermeer.
