Water playground Rakkersveld to be emptied

The water from the water playground at Rakkersveld is being washed away. The weather doesn't seem to be getting as nice and therefore the playground will not be used either. When the temperature, before mid-September, rises above 23 degrees again, the water playground will be refilled.

Pest nuisance

Right now, the water playground is mainly used by gulls as a swimming hole. We expect that when the water is gone, so will the gulls. But it is also important not to feed the animals. There is a feeding ban for wild animals in Zoetermeer and this includes gulls. Animals can cause nuisance and therefore we want them in our city as little as possible. It is also better for the animals if they find their own food. This way they stay fit and eat the food that is suitable for them.
