Palenstein swimming pool open again for summer

Children and local residents can use the little pool in Palenstein again for free this summer. Councilman Jan Iedema officially reopened the pool Wednesday, July 16. "But keep to the rules of the game," he stressed. "No peeing in the water, and keep it quiet and clean."

The rules are posted on a new sign at the pool and are also distributed through a flyer. Municipal employees check the pool water twice a day, including weekends. Next to the pool is a plant that provides clean water.

Volunteer

Neighborhood director Sandra Rispens announces that another volunteer is being sought: "We are looking for someone who wants to take leaves out of the water with a net from time to time. That person will have a scoop net on loan." Would you like to become a volunteer? Then send an email to palenstein@zoetermeer.nl.

Festive reopening

The reopening was festively celebrated. Children from the Piëzo Talent Academy were there, as was the library's Book Bike. Because reading is also important during the summer vacations. Neighborhood Liaison Officer Jenny from Gro-up treated the children to ice cream and Piëzo volunteers provided lemonade.

A collage was also presented to the alderman during the meeting. Artist Pauline Delfos collected previous contributions from residents during the Day of Palenstein. To the question "What is freedom for you?" many residents gave their personal answer. The collage will get a place in the walk-in center inZet/Piëzo at the Rakkersveld.
