Afrikaweg becomes city street

The Afrikaweg changes from a through road into a pleasant city street where cars drive slower and where people live, work, move and stay. The 2 sides of the Afrikaweg are connected and there is room for liveliness on both sides of the street.

Pedestrians can cross the Afrikaweg at level level in two places.

Cross section of the Africa Road

The maximum speed on the Afrikaweg will be reduced from 70 to 50 km/h. Buses will have their own bus lane. There will be separate cycle paths along the city street. There will be wide pavements and 2 level crossings over the Afrikaweg for pedestrians. Cyclists can use the 3 existing underpasses. In this way, Meerzicht and Driemanspolder will be connected to each other for slow traffic via an attractive and socially safe area.

Access to the new district by car is via Bredewater and Boerhaavelaan.

In Entree, there is also a strong focus on reducing car use by encouraging the use of public transport, cycling and walking. A good connection from the station to the city centre is being constructed along the city street.
