Entree Zoetermeer
Lively and green around the station and Afrikaweg
The pressure on the housing market in Zoetermeer is high and increasing rapidly. Approximately 700 homes are needed per year to meet the demand. Zoetermeer wants to build 10,000 homes in the coming 10 to 15 years and is looking for ways to eventually expand this number to a total of 16,000 homes. We want to create a new city district from the area on both sides of the Afrikaweg and around the Mandelabrug, with an attractive mix of 6,250 to 7,250 new homes and associated facilities and greenery.
Below you will find mainly information about the administrative decision-making and participation. Entree also has its own website where we, together with the other landowners in Entree, present the new city district to you. Here you can also register for the newsletter. This own Entree website also contains all documents of the draft Environmental Program Entree and the MER that are available for inspection until April 11, 2025.

Approach to Entrance under the Environmental Act - February 2025
The Environmental Act will apply to the development of Entree from 1 January 2024. This means that we have not continued with adjusting the draft zoning plan, but have created an environmental programme.
In February 2025, the municipality laid down the rules for building in Entree in drawings and texts. These can be found in a number of design documents, namely in an Environmental Programme, a Development Vision, an Image Quality Plan and a number of policy documents. These documents will be available for inspection from Friday 28 February to Friday 11 April 2025. You can respond to these by submitting a point of view. You can read how this works from 28 February on the website www.entreezoetermeer.nl You can also find the documents there on that date.
The municipality has been working on the plans for Entree for a long time. In 2022, there were many responses (opinions) to the draft zoning plan. New information was also provided about the number of meters of office space and housing required in Entree and an area at the Abdissenbos became part of Entree. The plan for service roads along the city street Afrikaweg was abandoned to create more space for a wide sidewalk and a free cycle path. Access to the new district for cars will be via the Bredewater and the Boerhaavelaan. The maximum heights of the high-rise buildings have also been adjusted to a lower height. In the autumn of 2024, residents were able to respond to these changes. They have now been incorporated into the documents that are available for inspection. The responses to the opinions from 2022 are also part of this.
After April 11, 2025, all responses will be bundled and it will be examined whether these responses still lead to changes in the documents. A response (response) from the municipality will follow on all submitted views. After any adjustments, the documents will be submitted to the council for approval and then to the board for approval.
Planning
A schedule for the various policy documents that are being drawn up can be found in the timeline on the Entrance website.

Participation Entree Zoetermeer
Since the Entree vision was drawn up in 2017, we have been working with the owners and people from the direct vicinity of the Entree area and other interested parties from the city on the development of Entree. We call this participation. For the most up-to-date planning of the participation, we refer you to the timeline on entreezoetermeer.nl .

Vibrant city neighborhood
Living in Entree will be different from other places in Zoetermeer. The area will become more urban and denser, in which quality in both the home and the living environment is of great importance. Living or working in Entree means consciously choosing an urban environment.

Afrikaweg becomes city street
The Afrikaweg changes from a through road into a pleasant city street where cars drive slower and where people live, work, move and stay. The 2 sides of the Afrikaweg are connected and there is room for liveliness on both sides of the street.

Green and sustainability
In Entree, you live, work, exercise and relax in green surroundings. This is an important quality that distinguishes Entree from other urban areas. Green facades, green roofs and balconies or terraces with green decoration are good for water storage and to combat heat stress.

Mobility
Mobility needs are changing. More and more people are taking public transport, walking or taking the bike. Our new city district is fully equipped for this. With innovative forms of mobility, such as shared (electric) bikes and cars.

Station area
With the arrival of the new city district Entree, the station area on the north side (city side) of the Nelson Mandela Bridge will also get a new look. The preliminary designs for a plinth building with a station hall and for a bicycle bridge were presented in August 2022.
