Announcement of sports gala nominees
During the Zoetermeer Sports Gala, athletes, coaches and sports providers are put in the spotlight for their special achievements. The nominees are known. Who will go home with a prize? Experience this festive evening full of sporting highlights on Friday, January 31 in the Stadstheater.
The municipality presents awards in the categories: Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Sports Talent of the Year, Unique Athlete of the Year, Sports Team of the Year, Sports Coach of the Year and Most Socially Involved Sports Provider.
"Every year there are athletes from Zoetermeer with exceptional sports achievements," says a proud Alderman Ronald Weerwag (Sports). "The quality of the entries was also impressive this time, which does not make selecting the nominees easy. Our appreciation goes out to all athletes, volunteers and sports providers."
Nominees
The jury consists of Ronald Weerwag (alderman for sports), Hans Beukema (sports reporter), Ed Bontrop (manager Team KPN Sportfonds), Bella Overgoor (Sports Advisory Council) and Petra Janssen (vice president ZKV De Meervogels).
There are 3 entries nominated in each category. The athletes, coaches and sports providers with a chance to win are listed below in no particular order:
Sportswoman of the year: Lisa van Belle (track cycling), Mirela Demireva (high jump) and Amber Mulder (karate)
Sportsman of the year: Douwe Amels (high jump), Lucas van Klaveren (decathlon) and Ferry Wortman (karate)
Sports Talent of the Year: Lina el Achkar (soccer), Jolie Fransen (swimming) and Senna Mulder (karate)
Unique athlete of the year: Kimberley Alkemade (sprint), Laura van der Kooij (speed skating) and Elise Reedijk (karate)
Sports team of the year: Doing 1 (wheelchair field hockey), FC Zoetermeer 1 (soccer) and Dutch men's team (curling)
Sports coach of the year: Sannah Boer (gymnastics), Fahad Soekhai (soccer) and Wesley Wilbrink (karate)
Most socially engaged sports provider: Boxing Club Sagi (boxing), Curzo Zoetermeer (krav maga) and The John Noakes Foundation (tennis)
