Under a beaming sun and in a festive atmosphere, Zoetermeer celebrated 80 years of freedom Monday during the 25th edition of the Liberation Festival. The location in the Van Tuyllpark was effortlessly found by thousands of visitors. The grounds filled up early with a wide audience from young to old. Celebrating 80 years of freedom was the focus throughout the day, with room for both celebration and reflection.
Speed dating with veterans
At the Story House, visitors were able to talk with veterans during the special speed dating program, which grew into one of the most appreciated parts of the day. Young and old listened with fascination to the personal stories and experiences - an impressive way to reflect on the value of freedom.
Peak in the afternoon
The children's program proved popular beyond expectations. Families flocked to the many activities and performances, culminating in the arrival of Kabouter Plop. Over the course of the day, the site became increasingly crowded and the festival reached its peak in the afternoon with the spectacular performance by Paul Elstak. Podium 2, where local artists and DJs performed, also managed to attract a large crowd. The performance by Wipneus en Pim created festive scenes and the Dutch party with Sven Versteeg got the crowd moving.
Spectacular closing
The closing of the festival was provided by La Fuente, who closed the 25th anniversary of the festival in style with a spectacular laser, light and special effects show. The audience responded enthusiastically and remained in droves until the last moment.
