Proof of sponsorship and/or lodging provision

This proof is often needed if you are visited by someone from abroad. You act as guarantor for any expenses or debts incurred by the visitor in the Netherlands.

In the proof of guarantee and/or lodging you explain why you invited the person. For example for a holiday. This allows this person to show why he/she is coming to the Netherlands. This is necessary for a visa.

If the person receives the visa, he/she may stay in the Netherlands for a maximum of 3 months.

Guarantee (legalization of signature)

  • The person who invites someone is responsible for any costs or debts that the visitor incurs in the Netherlands (and their partner if you are married or in a registered partnership).
  • Download the form ' Proof of guarantee and/or private accommodation' from the government website ' and fill it in.
  • Make an appointment online for a legalization of a signature (see 'Make an appointment').
  • Please bring the completed form and a valid ID to your appointment.
  • You sign in the presence of the official.
  • Are you married or in a registered partnership? Then you both need to come to the counter to sign the form.

Lodging provision

  • The person you invite must have enough money themselves. The Dutch Embassy or Consulate checks this.
  • Download the form ' Proof of guarantee and/or private accommodation' from the government website ' and fill it in.
  • Make an appointment online for a legalization of a signature (see 'Make an appointment').
  • Bring the completed form and a valid ID to your appointment.
  • You sign in the presence of the official.
  • Are you a guarantor for the provision of accommodation? Then 1 signature is sufficient.

You can apply for a guarantee certificate or proof of accommodation online. You can also request this at the counter.

If you request the certificate online, it will be sent to your home address by post. You will therefore not receive it digitally.

Change or delete appointment?

Once you have made an appointment you will receive a confirmation e-mail. This e-mail also contains a link that allows you to change or delete your appointment.

Are you changing your appointment? Please remember to delete your other appointment!

Do you no longer have the e-mail? Call 14 079. A staff member can change or delete the appointment for you.

Costs

You can pay the costs online or during your appointment. At the reception desk, you can pay by debit card or with the exact amount.

How long will it take?

Online: The proof will be mailed to you no later than the next business day.

At the counter: Your signature will be notarized immediately. This means you’ll receive the document right away.
