Proof of sponsorship and/or lodging provision

This proof is often needed if you are visited by someone from abroad. You then act as guarantor for any expenses or debts incurred by the visitor in the Netherlands.

In the proof of sponsorship and/or lodging you explain why you invited the person. For example, for vacation. This allows this person to show what he/she is coming to the Netherlands for. This is necessary for a visa.

Does the person get the visa? Then he/she may stay in the Netherlands for a maximum of 3 months.

Guarantee (legalization of signature)

  • The person inviting someone holds themselves (and partner if you are married or in a registered partnership) responsible for any expenses or debts incurred by the visitor in the Netherlands.
  • Download and complete the form"Proof of Sponsorship and/or Private Lodging Provision' from the central government website.
  • Make an appointment online to legalize signature (see "Make an appointment").
  • Bring the completed form and a valid ID to the appointment.
  • You put your signature in front of the official.
  • Are you married or in a registered partnership? Then you must both come and sign the form at the counter.

Lodging

  • The person you invite must have enough money of their own. The Dutch Embassy or consulate checks this.
  • Download and complete the form"Proof of Sponsorship and/or Private Lodging Provision' from the central government website.
  • Make an appointment online to legalize signature (see "Make an appointment").
  • Bring the completed form and a valid ID to the appointment.
  • You put your signature in front of the official.
  • Are you a guarantor of lodging? Then 1 signature is sufficient.

Change or delete appointment?

Once you have made an appointment you will receive a confirmation email. This e-mail also contains a link that allows you to change or delete your appointment yourself.

Are you changing your appointment? Please remember to delete your other appointment!

Do you no longer have the e-mail? If so, call 14 079. A staff member can change or delete the appointment for you.

Cost

You pay the fee during the appointment. At the front desk, you can only pay by debit card or cash.

How long will it take?

The municipality immediately legalizes your signature. Then you will receive the form back immediately.
