Fines and warnings

Of course, it is never fun to be fined. Enforcement officials can give you a registered warning and a criminal fine. Below is more information about these warnings and fines. You can also read how to object and pay a fine.

Warnings

Enforcement officers have the option of issuing a registered warning first. They will stop you and engage you in conversation. In doing so, they ask for proof of identity. They then create the warning. Issuing a warning is not a requirement before an enforcer actually issues a fine. You cannot object to an issued warning.

The enforcers may also leave a warning note behind your windshield wipers. This shows the fine amount. You do not have to pay this amount when you receive a warning. If you repeat the same violation and are fined, you do have to pay this amount.

Fines

Criminal fines are acts that are not punishable under the General Municipal Bye-Law (APV). Examples of a criminal fine are failing to show proof of identity or spray-painting graffiti. These fines are collected through the CJIB. This agency also handles any objection procedure. You can also arrange a payment arrangement with the CJIB.

Reports

The enforcement officers of Zoetermeer, are also supervisors. This means they can also make an administrative report following an investigation or violation. This allows the municipality to address violations at the administrative level. These reports are mainly drawn up by the Integral Catering Inspector, the supervisor of business parks, the undermining specialist and the boa flora and fauna.
