College visiting Buytenwegh
The entire board of mayor and aldermen was a guest in the Buytenwegh neighborhood on September 24. After the weekly college meeting on location at Middin, the college toured the neighborhood and visited a number of important places for the neighborhood.
The tour took the college to several places in the district. The first stop was the Buytenwegh shopping center. The bustling heart of the neighborhood, where many residents of the neighborhood do their daily shopping and where there are many social amenities. The college also visited the residential decks on Rossinirode and Smetanarode. Here they spoke with the area managers of housing corporation Stedelink. The last stop of the tour through Buytenwegh was at the César Frankrode. Here the MBO Rijnland, Piëzo, elementary school for special education and the community center for the Roden neighborhood are located. The college was given a tour of the Piëzo location. At the MBO Rijnland they were welcomed by the cook who, together with students and for a small fee, provides a three-course meal every Tuesday and Thursday for the neighborhood restaurant.
The college was also briefed on the progress of the Buytenwegh neighborhood exploration. In order to determine what can be improved in Buytenwegh, the neighborhood reconnaissance in Buytenwegh has started. In recent months, bureau Eurus went into the neighborhood to interview residents and neighborhood professionals. A lot of other research data about the neighborhood has also been collected. In the coming months all this data will be analyzed and a report will be drawn up that will show the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the neighborhood. The neighborhood exploration will form the basis of improvements for the neighborhood that the municipality, together with community partners and residents, wants to shape in 2025.
