Cybersecurity for the elderly
Phishing, fake emails, whatsapp fraud: digital scams are increasingly common. Elderly people are a vulnerable group. The municipality of Zoetermeer finds it important that all residents can use the internet safely. The municipality is committed to ensuring that as many senior citizens in the city as possible have access to the information they need to be safe online.
Information afternoons
Over the next few months, the municipality is organizing a number of information afternoons for senior citizens (60+). During the afternoon, they will watch the interactive film "Real or Fake?" together. Based on this film, the municipality's moderator will discuss with the participants what they would do in various suspicious situations on the Internet. This will teach them a practical way to recognize digital scams such as fake emails, phishing messages and whatsapp fraud. They also learn how to safely handle online banking and the use of their personal data on the Internet.
Oct. 23 in the Meerzicht neighborhood
The first information afternoon will take place on October 23 in the Meerzicht district at Palet Welzijn Albrandswaard, Albrandswaard 1, 2716 DA Zoetermeer. The afternoon lasts from 15:00 to 17:00 (walk-in from 14:30). Participation in the afternoon is free; including a snack and a drink. On this first information afternoon, Mayor Michel Bezuijen will be present to welcome you. The program is as follows:

November 8 in the Rokkeveen neighborhood
On Friday, November 8, the information afternoon will take place in the Rokkeveen neighborhood, in community center De Vlieger, Groen-blauwlaan 133, 2718 GH Zoetermeer. The afternoon will last from 15:00 to 17:00 (walk-in from 14:30). Participation in the afternoon is free; a snack and a drink are included.
