The municipal organization

At the top of the municipality is the municipal council. The municipal council makes the important decisions for the municipality. The municipal council gets help from the registry. The registry supports the council and provides advice in its work.

Directly below the city council is the board of mayor and aldermen, which is often abbreviated as B and W. The mayor leads the municipality and chairs the college. Together with the aldermen, the mayor ensures that the municipality is well run and that all plans are carried out.

The municipal secretary works under the “ board of mayor and aldermen .” The municipal secretary supports the municipal executive and ensures that the municipal administration runs smoothly. The municipal secretary leads three main departments within the municipality. The first department is internal and external services. This department ensures that the municipal organization operates effectively and that residents receive the correct information and assistance. The second department is community affairs. This department handles everything related to people, such as healthcare, support services, employment, youth, and welfare. The third division is the physical infrastructure division. This division is responsible for buildings, roads, green spaces, and other physical assets in the municipality.
