A successful first meeting Hart van Meerzicht
The Heart of the Neighborhood. The shopping center of Meerzicht and the area around it will undergo a major overhaul in the coming years. Because it is a large project and there are several components, it is being broken up. Project 1 as it is called is about the redevelopment of the office building on the Herenwaard. There was a first meeting for local residents for this on Feb. 11.
Nearly 100 local residents came to the informational meeting. District councilor Veronique Frinking was also present and explained what will happen in the coming years. More for Meerzicht also means More for Meerzicht. Refurbishing the shopping center is more than desirable and the fact that the first steps are being taken now is very important.

Then Ewoud Dekker of CLS explained Portico and Woonhave's plans for the shopping center and housing. Both the demolition-new construction part, and the renovation of the other part of the mall. After some clarifying questions about loading and unloading, the height of the residential portion of the plans and also about parking and how exactly it works with parking standards, the joint portion concluded. Then there was room to interact with each other, the municipality and the developers at the 4 information tables:
- The maquette, how will the overall plan be
- The homes
- The mall and planning
- The future design of the public area

There were many positive sounds and also some concerns, for example about loading and unloading of the stores, parking and whether the shopping center can remain open during construction. There were also desires, such as good accessibility of the area by bicycle and associated bicycle parking, refurbishing the area under the randstadrail, safety and the management and maintenance of the area.

A 2nd information/participation evening will follow in May or June. The wishes, concerns and ideas of those present will be processed and a feedback will follow with what has been done with these to the extent possible. This evening will also focus on the public area.
