St. Nicholas Square
Description
Nicolaasplein is a parking lot on Dorpsstraat. The square is named after the Saint Nicholas Church that stands on it. The square connects Dorpsstraat Centraal Park. From Nicolaasplein, there is a view of the Dobbe lake.
The square consists partly of asphalt and grass. An old station building stands on the square. This building is now used as a pavilion and often as a canopy for events. In 2025, Nicolaasplein was redesigned. More trees and grass were added. There are also new seating areas and a boules court.
Decked path
A wooden boardwalk will be constructed along the Dobbeplas in 2025: the Vlonderpad. The path is intended for pedestrians and runs around Central Park.
During events, the path may be used as a walkway. It is not permitted to place objects on it, as the path must not be subjected to excessive weight. The path is also not intended for use as a jetty.
Surface
The site has a gross area of approximately 5,362m2.
