Fietsmaatjes wins pitch night Sportakkoord and gets Zoetermeer moving
During the National Sports Week, Zoetermeer is all about sports and exercise. On Wednesday evening, September 24, sports associations and providers presented their best ideas to get Zoetermeer moving. The pitch evening, part of the Zoetermeer Sports Agreement, produced inspiring plans and rewarded the winner with financial support and extra visibility.
The Zoetermeer Sports Agreement
The Zoetermeer Sports Agreement is committed to encouraging sports and exercise participation among all residents, regardless of age, background or sports experience. By supporting innovative ideas and projects in the start-up phase, the agreement offers room for creativity and innovation within the local sports world.
"Sports gives everyone a chance to participate and develop," said Boas Matsinger, coordinator of the Sports Agreement. "This pitch evening shows how much creativity there is in Zoetermeer to get people moving."
Pitch night 'Get Zoetermeer moving'
In recent weeks, sports providers were called upon to submit their best idea to get Zoetermeer moving to the steering committee of the local Sports Agreement. The pitch evening began with opening remarks by alderman Ronald Weerwag (Sports). Participants then presented their initiatives to an expert jury. The best idea was rewarded with a sum of money, a bunch of flowers and an extensive PR package to bring their project to wide attention.
This package includes:
- A promotional video of the offer
- An article in the local Regional Gazette
- A podium spot during the Sports Gala of Zoetermeer
And the winner is... Bike buddies
Fietsmaatjes Zoetermeer has received the incentive grant from the Zoetermeer Sports Agreement, and for good reason. The organization is experiencing wonderful growth: more and more residents are discovering how nice it is to cycle together. This development has resulted in a large increase in participants; there is even a waiting list of 25 people who would love to ride a bike but are unable to do so independently.
With this contribution, Fietsmaatjes can make even more impact. The aim is to get many more Zoetermeerders to take exercise, especially people who cannot exercise or cycle themselves. To achieve this, Fietsmaatjes works together with local partners such as welfare organizations and sports clubs. Together they are working to reach and enthuse this new target group.
The contribution will also be used for extra promotion to make Fietsmaatjes even more visible in the city. The ultimate dream: a bicycle from Fietsmaatjes in every district of Zoetermeer, so that everyone close to home has the opportunity to join in.
With this effort, Fietsmaatjes makes a direct and valuable contribution to the goal of the Sportakkoord: to get even more Zoetermeerders moving.
