Gaffelaarkade, Galjoenkade, Fluitschipkade and Kadelaan. in De Leyens voted the Sweetest Street in Zoetermeer
On Friday, November 14, CKC Zoetermeer was all about connection and togetherness. During the Sweetest Street Election all pacesetters were put in the spotlight. Residents who work hard to make their street a place where people look out for each other. The award of Dearest Street was presented to the pacesetters of Gaffelaarkade, Galjoenkade, Fluitschipkade and Kadelaan. They received a check of € 500.00 to organize new activities.
The nominees
The following streets were nominated this year for the title Dearest Street of Zoetermeer 2025:
- Malta (Oosterheem)
- Bertramvaart and Andoornvaart (Seghwaert).
- Gaffelaarkade, Galjoenkade, Fluitschipkade and Kadelaan.(De Leyens).
Remarkable this year was that for all streets there were a lot of pacesetters who with each other and with small gestures make a big difference for the streets. And thus are the beating heart of the neighborhoods.
Why are we doing this?
At a time when people sometimes live alongside each other, the Love & Suffering initiative shows that small gestures can make a big difference. Alderman Veronique Frinking (health and welfare): "A card, a flower, or just passing by: it creates contact, trust and a sense of belonging. This is how we build together a city where no one is left out. That is invaluable for a Strong Social Base."
Love and suffering streets
Lief en Leed Zoetermeer started this election in 2020 and now there are almost 200 Lief en Leed streets. During this election, all pacesetters are put in the spotlight during the Sweetest Street election. The attendees choose the Sweetest Street of Zoetermeer together every year.
