What are performance agreements?

Performance agreements are the agreements between the municipality, housing corporations and tenants organization on the objectives for the rental housing stock, the liveability and sustainability of housing. The collaboration is aimed at improving the living environment for the residents of Zoetermeer. The municipality aims for a city in which its residents can live comfortably, enjoy their surroundings and feel welcome.

With these multi-year performance agreements, all parties agree to work together to provide a clean, whole and safe living and housing environment for all Zoetermeer residents, including the focus groups and people with care needs.

Good living

With the signing of the performance agreements, 5 important spearheads have been identified that will be central in the coming years. First of all, efforts will be made to accelerate housing construction, with the goal of more housing and a better distribution of supply in the city. There is also a focus on improving the quality of life in the neighborhoods of Meerzicht, Buytenwegh and Seghwaert. The agreements further include goals and opportunities that combine housing with care and welfare, housing attention groups, and improving the sustainability and affordability of the housing stock.

We are committed to a clean and safe living environment and meeting places for residents. In this way we jointly ensure a city that is and remains a home for all residents in the coming years."

Housing associations and tenant organizations

The 3 housing corporations - De Goede Woning, Stedelink and Vidomes - are important partners in housing the inhabitants of the municipality of Zoetermeer. They play a crucial role in various aspects of the city and work, through multi-year performance agreements, together with the municipality on the realization of 5 spearheads and related tasks for the city. Mariëtte Heemskerk (De Goede Woning): "With these agreements, the foundation has been laid for a nice cooperation for the coming years. We managed to achieve this together in a nice process." Jacco Maan (Vidomes) adds: "By signing the performance agreements we confirm our intensive commitment to Zoetermeer. Working together is necessary to tackle major challenges such as housing shortage, renovation and livability, combined with care where necessary. We are ready to make meters in this and thus continue to make a positive contribution to the city and its residents."

The tenants' councils and tenants' organization - Tenants' Association In Beweging, Tenants' Council Stedelink and Tenants' Council Vidomes - also play an important role. They have good insight into what is going on among residents in the various districts of Zoetermeer. They have also made valuable contributions to the creation of the multi-year performance agreements and ensure that the interests of tenants are well represented: "Tenants' organizations are committed to providing tenants and house seekers with affordable, suitable housing in a pleasant and safe environment appropriate to the tenant's living situation. The document exudes concern for that. We have done that well together." So says Riet Middelhoek (chairperson tenants' council Vidomes) on behalf of the tenants' councils and tenants' organizations.

Joint responsibility

The signing of the performance agreements are important for the future of Zoetermeer. The cooperation between the municipality, housing corporations and tenant organizations is working towards a safe, sustainable and pleasant living environment. These agreements are in line with the vision Zoetermeer 2040 and contribute to a city where everyone feels welcome and at home.
