Improving greenery at Magic Mountain

The municipality stands for a pleasant and safe living environment. That is why we are tackling the greenery on the hiking trail near the Toverberg.

What are we going to do?

We are replacing the old greenery with new plants and shrubs. By having more variety in the types of plants, we contribute to biodiversity and climate adaptation. In addition, it will look a lot more cheerful in the spring.

Where do we go to work?

The work area begins at the Toverberg Child Center to the schoolyard of the Waldorf Firebird. 95% of the greenery adjacent to the Toverberg will be replaced.

When will the work be done?

Work will begin in week 44 of 2024 and will be performed by contractor HOEK. The work is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

You may experience some inconvenience due to the work. A temporary detour will be in effect from Monday, Oct. 28 through Friday, Nov. 1. See the image below for information about the detour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions about this project.

No, preliminary research has shown that the vast majority of trees present are in healthy condition and do not pose a threat to public safety. As a result, we see no reason to remove trees. All mature trees will remain intact.

Will the blackberry bushes and nettles be removed so they don't come back?

All brambles and nettles will be removed. Stem plants and flower mixture will be sown in their place. Management of the planting strip will be modified in the future to prevent any stinging nettles and brambles left behind from returning.

The woodchip path remains unchanged because this is an alternative route towards Meerzichtlaan. In addition, the woodchip path fits better with the character of the green surroundings.
