Enforcement request

Do you believe the rules are being violated? Then you can send the municipality an enforcement request. Before sending an enforcement request, we advise you to first talk to the person you believe is in violation. Can't work it out together? Then you can ask the municipality to enforce or you can file a report.

Difference between a notification and an enforcement request

When you request enforcement, we make an official decision. You can object to this decision and lodge an appeal. In the case of a report, we do not make an official decision, but see if we can do something with your report and solve the problem.

What do you need to know?

An enforcement request is not anonymous

An enforcement request is a legal proceeding. The contents of your request and your identity are disclosed to the person you believe is in violation. The potential violator has the right to respond to the contents of the enforcement request.

Would you like to remain anonymous? Then you can choose to file a report instead of an enforcement request.

What to do?

An enforcement request can currently only be sent in writing to the address below:

Municipality of Zoetermeer
Department of Safety Licenses and Enforcement
PO Box 15
2700 AA ZOETERMEER

Unfortunately, an enforcement request cannot be made by e-mail.

If you send an enforcement request, you should consider:

  • Interested
    • You must be the interested party. That means you are directly involved in the situation.

  • In the enforcement request you put:
    • Your name and address.
    • A description of what you believe needs to be acted upon. If necessary, include documents, photographs or drawings to clarify the situation.
    • The date and your signature.

How long will it take?

In principle, we handle your request within 8 weeks. In some cases, we will ask you for additional information. This may mean that we are unable to process your request within 8 weeks. We will inform you about this.
