In early March, 25 trees were planted in the center median of Boerhaavelaan. On Friday, March 8, Alderman Jan Iedema and local residents planted one of the trees. A little later, new shrubs will also be planted. This will give this avenue a greener face and a more pleasant appearance, also in the years that construction will take place in Entree. The trees are temporary and will be removed again when the Boerhaavelaan is permanently redesigned as a road with a maximum speed limit of 30 km per hour. Naturally, (new) trees will then return along the Boerhaavelaan.

In recent years, many trees have been removed along Boerhaavelaan. Mainly because the trees were diseased. The plan for new trees had been in place for some time, but it turned out to be too great a risk that new trees would be damaged by (construction) activities. Hence the choice for a more limited plan of 25 temporary trees in the central reservation.

The new trees consist of the following species: 7 Limes 'Prestige', 8 Field Maples Elsrijk and 10 Ornamental Pears Chanticleer. On this map (pdf) you can see where these species are located in the center median of Boerhaavelaan between Van Stolberglaan and the station.
