Renting The Log Cabin (Shelter)
The Blokhut is a simple wooden building in the Van Tuyll Sportpark (Van der Hagenstraat 5). The Blokhut can only be rented for private purposes (e.g. a party). It is not intended for commercial activities. You can only rent the Blokhut if you live in Zoetermeer.
The Blockhouse is also known as The Shelter.
What you need to know
- The Blokhut is available for rent to Zoetermeer residents only.
- To rent you must be 18 years of age or older.
- Your activity must end by 3 a.m. at the latest. It is prohibited to spend the night at The Log Cabin.
Rental time
- The rental always runs from noon one day, to noon the next day.
- These times are equal to the before and after control by the administrator.
- The person with the reservation in his/her name must be present at both times!
Pay
- You make an appointment online at the Public Square within 2 weeks of booking to pay the rent.
- Payment must be made by the person who has the reservation in his/her name.
- To the appointment you bring with you:
- the rental agreement
- your proof of identity
- A debit card (at the counter you can only use debit cards)
- After payment, the reservation is final and cannot be canceled or refunded.
During the rental period
You should be familiar with the General Conditions of Use Zoetermeer for the use of accommodations with a social and/or cultural purpose (pdf).
On the day you rented The Log Cabin:
- You will be at The Log Cabin at noon for the pre-check with the administrator.
- You will receive the keys and sign for receipt and occupancy of The Log Cabin.
- By signing, you agree that if damage is found during the follow-up inspection, the repair costs will be recovered from you.
- If items need to be repaired (from the previous tenant), this will be done in consultation with you.
- At the end of the rental period, you must leave the building clean. You must dispose of the waste yourself.
The day after you rent The Log Cabin:
- You will be back at noon for the follow-up checkup.
- You return the key to the administrator.
- You walk an inspection tour with the manager. Is damage found? If so, you will be held liable. The cost of repairs will be recovered from you.
Facilities
It can hold up to 80 people with the doors closed. The Log Cabin has:
- a bar with water supply (no refrigerator)
- electricity (single outlets on 2 groups)
- 2 toilets
- a coat rack
- 5 small picnic tables that can seat 6 people (these can also be put outside if the entire space is needed)
- no heating
- no wifi
Power supply
In the Log Cabin you can use 2 electricity groups (max 3,500 watts per group) as standard. Extra power current (mushroom) will be given to you at the pre-check by the administrator. The administrator can also help you connect the equipment.
Notice! The noise level may be up to 50 decibels during the day, up to 45 decibels in the evening and up to 40 decibels at night. The strength is equal to the volume as you use during a party at home.

Waste
You are responsible for cleaning up and disposing of trash after the activity. If the space is not delivered clean and on time we will charge you for disposal and/or cleaning.

Making an appointment to pay the rent of The Log Cabin
Note! Payment must be made by the person who has the reservation in his/her name. At the front desk, you can only pay by debit or credit card.
Appointment Paying The Log Cabin
When paying the rent, please include:
- the rental agreement
- your proof of identity
Change or cancel appointment?
Once you have made an appointment you will receive a confirmation email. This e-mail also contains a link that allows you to change or cancel your appointment yourself.
Do you no longer have the e-mail? Then call 14 079. A staff member can change or cancel the appointment for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I put up flags, streamers and banners?
Yes you can (without a permit). Of course, you must have permission from the owner of the property or house you want to hang the decoration on.
Caution! Decorations must always hang at least 4.20 meters high so that emergency services can pass by.
May I celebrate a private party (birthday, wedding, exam) in a field or park?
Yes you may, but a few rules apply:
- You may set up a party tent or bouncy castle (max. 25 m²) in public green spaces, provided it is properly secured.
- You may not cordon off the area where barbecuing, picnicking or playing is taking place.
- Barbecuing in the public green space is allowed only if it does not cause danger and/or nuisance to the surroundings and/or nature.
- Drinking alcohol in public areas is not allowed everywhere (for example, drinking alcohol is not allowed in playgrounds and schoolyards).
May I barbecue in public areas?
Yes, you may. However, some rules apply:
- You may barbecue anywhere in public areas unless otherwise specified.
- There must be no danger, nuisance or disturbance to the environment and/or nature.
- The area to be barbecued may not be cordoned off.
- The place must be left neat and clean after the event.
- Ensure the safety of yourself and those around you. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
Caution! Drinking alcohol in public areas is not permitted everywhere.
