Letter of intent 'Cooperation in public space' signed
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Joram Peeters on behalf of Dunea, Angelique Quentin on behalf of the municipality of Zoetermeer and André Zijlstra on behalf of Stedin signed a letter of intent for intensified cooperation in Zoetermeer's public spaces.
The core of this letter of intent is to coordinate underground work more intelligently. Work and projects of all parties involved are coordinated earlier, resulting in less impact on the neighborhood. For example, the street is opened up less often. This saves money because, for example, new streetwork is not reopened to perform work on cables and pipes, and work can be combined. Moreover, it gives the resident of Zoetermeer less inconvenience.
Joram Peeters: "There is good energy in the cooperation. The parties treat each other with respect and together we have the goals in sharp focus. I am pleased that the cooperation is being intensified. That helps to carry out the small and large works in the public space as effectively as possible, which is extra important in these times of scarcity."
Angelique Quentin: "Nice that this intention has been started from trust. I think it is important that the residents of Zoetermeer will also benefit from this and they will receive unambiguous communication about work to be carried out."
André Zijlstra: "There is 100% commitment from Stedin. It's great to jointly lay the plans for the coming years side by side, to implement them in a structured way and thus to meet the residents of Zoetermeer and limit the inconvenience as much as possible."
In addition to the 3 parties mentioned above, housing corporations in Zoetermeer will soon join and exploratory talks are underway with the various water boards. This is so that as much underground work as possible can be properly coordinated.
