Koningsdag activities in Zoetermeer continue, with minor adjustments to program
Sadness and joy sometimes go hand in hand. So too on Saturday, when Koningsdag is celebrated throughout the Netherlands, but also when the Pope's funeral takes place. In close consultation with the Oranjestichting and all other organizations involved, it was decided to allow the King's Day activities in Zoetermeer to continue, with some adjustments out of respect for the Pope's passing.
Adjustments
- At 10:00 a.m., the church bells of St. Nicholas Church will ring for 3 minutes. No new activities will be started during these 3 minutes.
- Activities begun before 10:00 a.m. will be temporarily interrupted during the chimes.
- The stage program at Cadenza Square begins half an hour later than scheduled, at 10:30 am.
- The Pope's funeral will be live on a video screen in St. Nicholas Church.
Mayor Michel Bezuijen: "I wish everyone touched by the Pope's passing much strength. At the same time, I hope that everyone who celebrates King's Day may make it a beautiful day."
