Winterize neighborhood garden Rokkeveen together!

Will you help out on Saturday, November 2, at neighborhood garden Rokkeveen during Nature Work Day? Your hands are more than welcome!

What are we going to do together?

  • Pick up grass clippings/hay with the ridger (hay rake). Next year there will be plenty of wildflowers blooming again and the insects love them!
  • Finishing the big bug hotel? The roof goes on, the boards still need to be put in and then: fill it up!
  • Plant flower bulbs so that the first bees and butterflies can find plenty of food in the spring.
  • The newly planted food strip has done well this year. Together we are weeding the shrubs and trees all around.
  • Winterizing school gardens. We cover them so that the growing grass stays under control through the winter.
  • Who wants to get their hands in the water? The 2 natural ponds are quite overgrown and full of dredge. We will remove the excess vegetation and dredge from the pond. A tailored suit is available.

About community garden Rokkeveen

Wijktuin Rokkeveen is the green neighborhood center for everyone! Since 1992, all children from the neighborhood schools get their own school garden and learn all about nature during theme lessons and make soup and herb butter from their own garden. You can come here for green workshops, a nice chat with a cup of tea or coffee and there are sales of fresh vegetables, jams, elderflower syrup, marigold ointment and flower honey from the neighborhood garden. You can also visit the neighborhood garden for a bouquet of organically grown flowers.
