Model table with Climbing House now also complete
The Scale Model Table with Climbing House is located next to the street Naardermeer, in the playing meadow. The model consists of the Heemburg neighborhood with space for the model of Waterzicht. The maquette part of Waterzicht could only be placed after the neighborhood was fully realized. Artist Alphons ter Avest placed the remaining part on July 1.
The 'Model Tables' are located in different parts of Oosterheem. Commissioned by the municipality and in consultation with neighborhood residents, artist Alphons ter Avest designed this 4-part artwork.
The creation of the artwork
In late 2014, residents of Oosterheem received a call for input for a new art project in their neighborhood. In May 2015, residents were able to comment on seven different sketch ideas. A majority of neighborhood residents found the Maquette Tables to be the most appealing design. The basis is the maquette of Oosterheem, which stood in the Oosterheem project office for many years during the construction of the neighborhood. Each table is a striking landmark on which residents can find their own homes, in miniature. At each Maquette table came a "house" for the new residents and animals of Oosterheem: a boiler house (referring to the new businesses), a bird house, an insect house and a climbing house for children.
