New year's performance 'Zoetermeer is my home'
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Zoetermeer municipality festively ushered in the new year with a special New Year's Eve performance at the Stadstheater.
Under the theme "Zoetermeer is my home," the world-renowned Zoetermeer sisters Anuschka and Maria Pedano, along with local talents Tamara van Sprundel, Kevin van der Leeuw, city poet Colin Knoester, Blue Lavender, Kick'n Studios, H!P and Circus Nevermind, brought an evening of music and stories celebrating our city's diversity and connectedness.
"To feel at home is to be able to be yourself somewhere, to feel free and safe," said Mayor Michel Bezuijen in his New Year's address, "And that emotion, that feeling, is not a given. Certainly not in the large, diverse city that Zoetermeer has become. To be, in all our colorful diversity, a society, a city where everyone can feel at home, we must do our best to meet each other, to see and hear each other."
