Open day at the fire department was great success

The open house at Oosterheem Fire Station on Wednesday, May 14, was a great success. Everyone got a chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the fire department.

Mayor Michel Bezuijen handled the opening at noon. Foundation Historic Fire Department Equipment was nicely displayed with old vehicles that provided enjoyable photos. They also had a sales stall with which they can pay for their own existence. The rescue team was present with a booth where you could sit in a real rowboat. Rainbowparty's provided happy hair and painted children's faces. The ambulance had a stall in style where they showed everything about their profession. You could also learn CPR and have your blood oxygen level measured on the ambulance stretcher. Marcello's Cappuchino was serving good coffee and tea with his 3-wheeler and Noorlander had a real market stall with delicious poffertjes and oliebollen.

Of course, the fire department itself had also turned out. There was a smoke-escaperoom where you had to find your way out in thick smoke. The new aerial platform was on display, the operational vehicles were on display and during the afternoon there were demonstrations on how to deal with a fire in a pan, and technical assistance where a victim was freed from a car with large tools.
