The parking lot at De Leyens shopping center is currently being refurbished. There was a need for a clearer parking lot with improvements for traffic safety. Work is now in full swing and several themes are being addressed.

Traffic

For example, the parking lot will be made clearer and more accessible for people with disabilities. The parking spaces will be made larger, as they no longer complied with the rules. A crosswalk will also be constructed for pedestrians who want to go from the Seneca path to the shopping center. There will also be an extra spot for a waiting truck, so that loading and unloading at supermarkets will cause less inconvenience.

Waste

The underground containers will be moved to the road so that they can be emptied more safely. This will make them easier for the garbage trucks to reach and this will create less inconvenience in the parking lot.

Trees

Most of the trees that were in the parking lot were at the end of their useful life. We are replacing these for new trees. The trees on the edge of the parking lot will be lime trees. On the parking lot itself the trees will get more space so they grow healthier. The old trees have been cut down.

Lighting

The redevelopment of the parking lot will also consider the best place to place new lighting.

DoeMee

Local residents will be involved in the refurbishment as much as possible. For example, they could contribute to the new design of the parking lot via Opknappen parkeerterrein Winkelcentrum de Leyens - Sartrezijde | Doe mee Zoetermeer. They could also ask all their questions during an information meeting on Wednesday, April 24 from 19:00 - 20:00 in Eetcafé De Leyens (Gondelkade 33).
