Police and municipality

Since January 1, 2013, the Netherlands has had the National Police. It consists of ten police units. Each police unit consists of a number of districts. Zoetermeer is part of the police unit The Hague.

Together with the municipalities of Leidschendam-Voorburg, Pijnacker-Nootdorp and Wassenaar, Zoetermeer forms one of the 7 districts of the police unit of The Hague. The administration of the district is in the hands of the District Board. The District Board consists of the 4 mayors, the area public prosecutor (on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office) and the district chief of police. The mayor of Zoetermeer chairs the District Board.

The police in Zoetermeer consists of a basic team. The leadership of this team is in the hands of Cor Pronk and Petra Verhoekx.
