You pay precario tax for using municipal land, for example, because you place a terrace or container.

You also pay precario tax if you want to display items for sale on the street.

Tax assessment

  • You do not have to file a separate tax return for precario tax yourself. You will receive it automatically every year after the end of the tax year. So for the year 2023, you will receive the assessment in 2024.
  • The permit for the use of public municipal land states that a precario tax will be charged.
  • The municipality determines the size of terraces and displays by measuring them periodically. This can be done without inconveniencing customers on the terrace or shoppers.
  • The municipality will send you an assessment based on the actual size of the patio or display in the tax year.

Objecting

Do you believe the assessment is incorrect? Then you can object via:

MijnBelastingen

The objection must be received by the municipality within 6 weeks from the date of the assessment notice.

You will receive confirmation of your objection within 5 business days.
