Roggeakker is a redevelopment site of housing corporation Vidomes. In 2019, Vidomes demolished the complex of 97 social housing units on Roggeakker. The homes were outdated and no longer met housing requirements. The former tenants of the complex moved out and the demolition of the complex was fully completed in early 2022. Vidomes now plans to rebuild new social housing on this site. The municipality is cooperating with this, checking whether the plan fits within the zoning of the area and is responsible for the design of the public space.

In the coming months, the spatial and financial feasibility will be examined. The municipality will also draw up preconditions that this development must meet. If the plan is feasible, the municipality will initiate a zoning change and redesign the public space.

Second participation meeting

The second participation meeting for the Roggeakker project was held on February 28, 2024. During this meeting, local residents were explained the urban development changes planned for this area. Next, architectural firm HP Architects presented the plan to all attendees. The comments made that evening will be jointly assessed and incorporated into the plan by Vidomes and the municipality. In addition, the municipality will work on a Plan Implementation Framework (PUK) that will be presented to the city council in the third quarter of this year. The PUK will establish the guidelines for the development of the area.
