Working together to create a great neighborhood

Alderman Véronique Frinking and housing corporation administrators Jacco Maan (Vidomes), Mariëtte Heemskerk (De Goede Woning) and Zakaria El-Khetabi (Stedelink), together with educational institutions Unicoz and OPOZ and inZet (the support organization), signed the plan'More for Meerzicht 2035' on December 5, 2024. In doing so, they ratified their cooperation and commitment to work towards a renewed Meerzicht.

The Meerzicht neighborhood in Zoetermeer will undergo a major renovation in the coming years. From making homes more sustainable to improving the public space. There is also a lot of attention to livability. "By working together, we achieve more. The residents play an important role in this. They know best what is going on in the neighborhood and what is needed. If we look together for solutions and possibilities, we get more for each other than each for himself. Which ties in with the motto from the coalition agreement: Doing together what is necessary," said Alderman Véronique Frinking, Municipality of Zoetermeer.

More for Lake View 2035

More for Meerzicht means more and long-term commitment to the neighborhood! The parties put their shoulders to the joint approach to do more for Meerzicht. More for housing, more for the living environment and more opportunities for residents. The 3 housing corporations, the 2 educational institutions, inZet and the municipality of Zoetermeer are doing this together and with residents. The plan was recently received with enthusiasm by the board of mayor and aldermen.

Together with residents and each other

Through good preparation and good cooperation, the municipality, housing corporations, educational institutions, health and welfare organizations and residents find each other more easily. All plans are coordinated. Are the housing corporations working on housing? Then the municipality will immediately look at what can be included in the public space. The partners like to join initiatives of residents. They also organize meetings to discuss with residents what is needed for the neighborhood.

Municipality and corporations Vidomes, De Goede Woning and Stedelink

The first improvements are already visible, such as the preservation of Zalkerbos with 309 homes, the realization of new construction (on the site of the old car garage) and the green approach at the Toverberg. Stedelink is investing in a good relationship with the active residents' committee of the Fonteinbos, the recreation room has been substantially refurbished and tenants have recently been kept informed via a digital information board in the common room. At the Bergenbuurt, housing corporations De Goede Woning and Vidomes are busy with preparations for large-scale sustainability. On behalf of the corporations, Jacco Maan, director of Vidomes, states: "We are making every effort, with residents and partners, to make the neighborhood better and more beautiful for current and future Meerzichters. Not only are more homes needed, they must also meet the requirements of the future. Together with residents, we are working on solutions to make living in Meerzicht as pleasant as possible."

Support in the neighborhood

Many residents know their way well to the many organizations in the neighborhood that offer care and/or support and welfare. inZet is one of them and is the place where Zoetermeerders can ask his or her question for help. But also if someone wants to do or mean something for someone else. At the inZet drop-in location in Meerzicht at the Uiterwaard 21, residents in the neighborhood can go for various walk-in consultations and activities. Bertine Spijkers, director-director of inZet, adds, "In order to support the residents of Meerzicht as much as possible, there is now also a social consultation hour at the Laveibos, especially for the residents of the Bossenbuurt. There they can ask questions about the renovation, but also about money matters, relationships, loneliness and more."

Creating opportunities for youth and children

Unicoz and Opoz are making efforts to provide children with a good foundation for secondary education with the help of bridge officers and after-school activities. Such as extra sports activities on the Krajicekveld. They want to improve parent involvement together with the parents through the parent rooms.
