Gathering at Nicolaaskerk

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the municipality of Zoetermeer is organizing the annual Commemoration of the Dead. The commemoration will begin at 18:45 in the H. Nicolaaskerk on Dorpsstraat 24. The church doors will open at 18:15. During this gathering, we remember the victims of World War II and of war situations and peace missions thereafter. The Interreligious Consultation Zoetermeer (ILOZ) and the Beraad van Kerken (BvK) invite all residents for a moment of reflection. Representatives of various religions and a chaplain from the armed forces will share their thoughts on 80 years of freedom.

We commemorate the life sacrifice of many and emphasize the importance of peace and freedom - even today. The gathering will be attended by the mayor and members of the city council. Afterwards, the silent march will leave for the memorial in Wilhelmina Park, where the ceremony will continue.
