On April 2, Mayor Bezuijen and Alderman Blansjaar placed three Stolpersteine in memory of the deceased Zoetermeer resistance fighters Cornelis van Eerden, Jan Hoorn and Jacob Leendert van Rij.

In the presence of their relatives, the handmade memorial stones were given a place in the sidewalk, close to the houses where they lived at the time. Thus their names and stories continue to live on in our city, a lasting tribute to their courage and sacrifice. The Stolpersteine art project was started in 1996 by German artist Gunter Demnig to keep the memory of the victims of Nazi terror alive. With these sweeping stories in the streetscape, history comes closer - a great example of how the Cultural Vision (program line Gold Maken) contributes to making more stories about the city visible.
