Census of homeless people on April 8

On April 8, the municipality of Zoetermeer counts people who are homeless. The count also highlights "hidden homelessness. These include people who are temporarily staying with friends or family or in insecure or unstable housing situations, such as squats, garages or emergency shelters. Because they are not registered as homeless, they often fall outside official censuses and assistance.

We are asking organizations that have contact with homeless people to fill out a form on April 8 for each person in a homeless situation. The person will remain anonymous. In doing so, enumerators will also note the person's characteristics and circumstances. For example, age, gender, origin, living situation, family status, causes of homelessness and care needs. With this information, we can better solve and prevent homelessness.

In 2025, 57 municipalities will participate in the census, including the Zoetermeer/Den Haag region. With the results of the census, municipalities can work to prevent and resolve homelessness.
